What is a multipoint lock?
With a multipoint lock the door does not lock at one point but at three or more points along its height. You lift the handle, which pushes hooks or bolts into the frame, and then turn the key. That makes the door much stronger than a door with a single lock. Most newer front doors, back doors and uPVC doors have one.
Common problems
The handle will not lift, or only halfway; the key only turns if you push hard against the door; or the door stays locked and will not open. Usually the door has dropped slightly or the frame has moved, so the locking points no longer line up with the keeps. Sometimes a part inside the mechanism has broken.
Do not force it: turning the handle or key with force often breaks the mechanism or snaps the key.
Adjust, repair or replace
Often adjusting is enough: we set the hinges and keeps so everything closes smoothly again. If the mechanism is broken, we replace the faulty part or the complete multipoint lock, matched to the make and size of your door. If the door is locked and will not open, we open it first and then fix the problem.
Because every make and door is different, you hear the price in advance once we know which lock it is. A new SKG cylinder costs from €89, with anti-snap protection from €129.

Questions about multipoint lock
My handle won't lift any more. What should I do?
Push the door firmly against the frame and try again. If that does not work, do not force it and call us. Usually the door needs adjusting.
Does the whole multipoint lock need replacing?
Not always. Adjusting or replacing a single part is often enough. We tell you honestly when replacement is really needed.
