Slammed shut or double-locked: two different jobs
If the door has only closed on the latch (the angled bolt that springs into the lock by itself), we can almost always open it without damaging anything. We use thin opening shims, a letterbox tool or a special hook, depending on the door and frame.
If the door is double-locked, the deadbolt is firmly in the strike plate. Then we open the door through the cylinder. Sometimes that works with picking techniques; with a security cylinder that has anti-snap protection the cylinder has to come out. We then fit a new SKG cylinder straight away, so you can lock up again the same evening.
What you can do while we are on our way
Check whether a window, balcony door or back door is open, but never climb over a roof or drainpipe. If a housemate, neighbour or relative has a spare key, that is the cheapest solution. Do not try to force the door with a bank card or screwdriver: you will often damage the door strip or the lock and make the job more expensive.
Rented home, flat or shared entrance
In a block of flats with a shared front door we first get you through the main entrance if needed, then through your own front door. In a rented home you may have a broken cylinder replaced; keep the old cylinder and the invoice for your landlord. Before we open, we always ask for ID or other proof that you live there.

All prices are starting prices including VAT. If you cancel an emergency job more than 10 minutes after calling, we charge the €40 call-out fee. Evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays carry a surcharge. You always hear the exact price in advance.

Questions about door opening
How long does it take to open a door that slammed shut?
The opening itself usually takes only a few minutes. Most of the time is the drive. A double-locked door with a heavy security cylinder can take longer.
What if I have no ID with me because everything is inside?
Then we open the door and you show us your ID or a letter with your name and address right away. If it does not match, we lock the door again.
